If you’re selling a registered vehicle in Queensland, you must obtain a valid Queensland Safety Certificate before advertising it for sale. Thanks to the Queensland Government’s ICO (Inspection Certificates Online) system, transferring a registered vehicle can now be done online at the time of sale. This ensures the seller isn’t held responsible for any fines or offences (such as tolls, speeding, or red-light infringements) committed by the new owner.
For buyers, once you’ve purchased a registered vehicle, you’re required to transfer it into your name within 14 days of purchase.
